Audience Feedback
I spoke to other students in my year in order to find out their opinions about my pages.
Front Cover
Front Cover
- My character has lots of attitude it adds an edge to the magazine
- There is an element of drama between Teri and Cher which is exciting for a reader
- Unique as there are few hio-hop and mainstream music magazines for teens
- The use of lots of pink may imply it is only targets a female audience
- The strong image works well against the background
- Like the use of lots of celebrity features
- The smaller images may steal attention from the main photo
- The coloured background adds flavour to the page
- The image looks very artistic it is likely to interest readers
- Even though the smaller image has less focus it is still very strong
- Could use more text/images in the space next to the main image
Evaluation 3, 4 and 5
#3 What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?
Baseline music magazine is likely to be published by InterMedia Partners which was founded in 2005. The organisation has expanded largely due to its publication of Vibe music magazine, an online music magazine.
I believe that InterMedia Partners would distribute Baseline because the ideas and the portrayal of music are similar to those of Vibe magazine so they would have the necessary skills and facilities necessary to comfortably distribute the magazine. Inter Media Partners are given credit for maintaining Vibe's reputation as a good magazine when it decided to distribute issues online only.
Baseline magazine new, exciting mainstream music magazine which offers an element of hip hop which allows it to appeal to a wide range of audience, it is also within the same genre range as Vibe. However it is unique in the fact that it particular targets young people so InterMedia Partners would benefit as they are able to expand their distribution to a wider range of young people. There is a gap in the market for a new, young music magazine which gives teens everything they could wish for in the industry.
Baseline is aimed at teens aged 15 - 18 years old, readers of the music magazine enjoy mainstream music with some or maybe even little interest in hip hop music. The typical readers of the magazine are interested in fashion, they are conscious of the style of clothing which they wear and the image they portray and they look up to celebrities and artists with good and controversial fashion styles. They are aware of the latest trends and own some of the current popular gadgets so they are able to keep up with online updates and issues of Baseline magazine. The average Basline reader is confident and admires those who feature in the magazine as they have the same work ethic and drive to be just as successful in the future.
The parents of the readers of my music magazine are likely to be placed in the C1 category with a few classed in the B category. This generally means that as my readers are teens it is likely that they will not be receiving any income and therefore will be relying on their parents to give them 'pocket money' for items such as magazines. There are some exception to this, as some of the teens may have a part time job or be in full time work if they are over the age of 16 years old and therefore can afford to purchase the magazine.
#5 How did you attract/address your audience?
The video above is an interview with a member of my target audience, it shows her opinions on my finished music magazine pages.
The questionnaire which I produced at the beginning of my coursework task allowed me to identify how to attract my target audience. I was able to find out key interests of members of my target audience for example the majority of teens dislike long boring adverts in a magazine and the use of too many adverts.
Key points
- Front Cover is the most important indicator for teens to decide whether they will buy the magazine. 90% of teens questioned said they would not buy a magazine which didn't immediately catch their attention
- Celebrity features increase the interest for teens - at this age young people develop role models and idols which they follow
- Gossip is appealing to young teens who are familiar with it as they tend to be surrounded by it reguarly
